who I am
M
I live in Lecce, in the land of light that is Salento, and perhaps it is precisely the beauty of the places where I grew up that ignited in me, since I was a child, the desire to share emotions, stories, and lives. In 2015, after 14 years, I quit my permanent job to devote myself to my greatest passion: writing. Throughout my professional career, I have written short stories, novels, fables, and poetry collections, always striving to tiptoe into the hearts of my readers. For me, writing is never just technique or narration: it is listening, empathy, transformation. It is a sacred space where one can be oneself, without masks. Since 2013, I have been practicing autobiographical writing as a form of therapy for the soul, leading workshops and individual programs designed to help people rediscover themselves through the power of words. I deeply believe that sharing one's story is an act of courage and healing. My publications include The Voice of the Belly, Thoughts in the Mirror, He Who Flies Low Cannot Touch the Sky, It Wasn't Just the Wind, The Soul's Bonfire, I Am Love, The Red Room, Lalla and the Secret of Happiness, Alice and the Ghost Corona V, and Edo's Adventures to Save Planet Earth. Soon to be published is If It's Love It's Love, a collaborative project born from listening to the voices of many young people who have entrusted me with their truths about love, identity, and inclusion. I carry out projects in schools, organize workshops, host a podcast, Il Salotto di Giò, and continue to search, every day, for new ways to bring words into dialogue with life. I write to tell stories, but also to educate about beauty, listening, inclusion, and embracing diversity. For me, writing is an act of love. And in this space I have created, I invite you to walk with me through stories, thoughts, and emotions. Because every word that comes from the heart has the power to change something, inside and outside of us. I have hosted radio programs, including "Dalla parte delle donne e non solo" (On the Side of Women and More) for Radio Porta Lecce and "Di Lunedì" (On Monday) for Radio One non solo suoni (Non Solo Suoni), addressing current affairs, culture, women's lives, and relationship dynamics.
I also edited the column "Noi siamo i giovani" (We Are the Young People) for the newspaper L'Edicola del Sud, giving voice to the thoughts, dreams, and struggles of the younger generations. During the delicate period of the pandemic, I felt the need to offer words that could be a refuge: thus, my "Novelle contro la paura" (Short Stories Against Fear) was born, published in La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno.
I have received numerous local and national awards and recognitions.
